Googles Getting Goofy

Postby MasterMind » Thu Mar 22, 2012 11:56 am

For a long time, 2-3 years, I had the term mind power somewhere between number 1 and number 5 in the serps.

Now I'm not even in the top 50 and it's a result of google changing. Go do a search on mind power and see what google likes now for that term. I checked it a few days ago thru the top 15 and didn't like what I found. Only 2 of the top 15 had adsense ads and most are affiliate sites selling their own stuff. Even one around number 9 that's really spammy with the keywords.

I still have some top 10s but about half of the pages that used to be in the top 30 are now not in the top 100. Adding links didn't help and neither did changing the pages and adding more text.

Lol, I'm thinking of removing adsense from the site and adding affiliate links and banners to see what happens.

The original site is at http://www.mentalpowerandthemind.com/

Any ideas of what's happening there, Mike?

Does anything ever change on the home page? If you're keeping the site fresh with new pages and/or posts it should help let them know it's not a stale site.

Aside from being a little old fashioned and ugly - nothing really wrong with it.

Yeah, got a blog on the domain too so it gets updated.

Not sure what the problem is but they sure replaced all the old sites that used to be top ten with some other sites.

When using Market Samurai for KW research I'm seeing some wierdness in some areas. Like old sites with a pr of 1 and less than 100 backlinks ranking number one when it doesn't seem they should be.

Like sites without the kw phrase in the domain or url and low pr and few kw back links ranking at number 1.

Lots of little weirdities that shouldn't be according to what I know but aren't proof of anything themselves except that there are becoming a lot more of them.

OTOH I've seldom agreed with or understood why google ranked some site high and not others. I'm glad the day of sites with tons of outlinks to supossedly relevant sites are no longer showing up in the top 10.

I'd like to figure out how to rank better in MSN but there seems to be no good advice out there at all. Most of the gurus say do what your doing for google and it will work. Lol, no it won't. Everytime I try to figure out the difference in pages I come to the same conclusion. Comparing good MSN pages against good google pages tells me nothing because I can find contradictory pages on my own sites so I can never come up with anything definitive. Irritates the hell out of me.

I think Bing likes a lot of links and a little trick is having lots of links that are random and changing on pages - so they thik they are new. That used to work well but to be honest I gave up on MSN/bing a while ago
