Which Keyword to Choose

Postby meaker12 » Thu Oct 13, 2011 5:00 am

Hi All

I need advice from the more skilled/mature website owners.

In my keyword research, I have come across the following two keywords and available sites: (real keywords hidden)

hill climber exercises.COM (800 global searches)
hill climbing exercises.ORG (3000 global searches)

Both have high competition for adwords. The .ORG will be slightly more difficult to get onto the first page, but not too bad.

Now my question is: Should I rather go for the .COM and get the site to rank on the first page of google faster and then build a page on that site for the .ORG keyword OR Visa Versa?

All feedback is welcome.
Thanks
Nick

Personally I'd go for the .org as I don't mind having to get a few extra links to get to the top.

Considering the .com keywords, if the .com is available there shouldn't be a ton of competition for that keyword so I'd make it the first of my secondary keywords.

Which keywords pays more for adsense ads. If it was me I want the most traffic with the highest cpc. There is a huge gap in traffic with those two so if cpc were close I'd still go for the .org

Thanks Mastermind.

The .COM is $4.15 and the .ORG is $3.58, but the singular of the .ORG is $4.05 with also a higher search volume.

Thanks again, as I will go for the .ORG
Thanks

You can't go wrong with either.

I'd usually pick the one that had search results with easier to beat URLs 8-)

Thanks Mike.

I've purchased the .ORG, but will be adding a page for the .COM name and then targeting both keywords and their single versions.

I'll give it a couple of months and report back.
Thanks

When I'm doing my KW research I use market samurai. Every ow and then I find a good KW that looks like it will be hard to get and like you, at the same time a KW that would be easier to get.

Then using MS I'll check backlinks and even if the harder, higher traffic KW has way more links every now and then when I run the backlink checker it will show me that the page has very few, if any, links using the exact KW I want to target. That tells me it will be easier than I thought to get that KW to the front page of google.

Aside fromm being here the two best purchases I bought on the net were Web Position which was revolutionary at the time and enabled me to kick competition butt. The other is Market Samurai which allows me to do the same thing.
