I seldom do site reviews but hey, it's Thanksgiving so here ya go. ;)

What ever is above the posts menu isn't showing up in my IE8 browser.

I'm not sure this is an error but it still doesn't look good.

"This may be a audio book that you would enjoy about many different famous musicians living the “tribal life” in Los Angeles-

No products found! "

Personally I would move the posts to the top right column. I'd move the pages to the top left coulum and put the T-shirt add under the pages.

I'd move the tags to the bottom of the right column.

I'd also put an outlink on the page that links to music quotes someplace that is not competition but has a high PR.

I'd also put some adsense ads in the body of the page. One large box top left and one large box bottom right. Then a 160 x 600 at the bottom of the left coulumn.

I don't know if there is any money in your keywords but if there is I would definitley put the adsense ads on too.

Hi Cindy

You never get a second chance to make a first impression when it comes to websites, and i have to say that's a really great header image you've got there ;) Clear, bold, attractive, and of course music related. The header alone wanted me to see what was below it.

My main criticism is the bang-in-your-face AdSense block directly under the H1 tag. I know this is a good suggested location on the heat map for AdSense placement, but what i would do (if it were my site), is either wrap the text to the left of the ad block, add your 3 line introductory paragraph just under the header before the ads, or both. At least that way you'd have a little bit of content before introducing the ads.

Second point, it might be a good SEO move to just make the H1 and title tags a bit different. You can of course keep your key phrase in both, but a little variation looks more professional and less hurried IMHO, and i think it might score you some SEO points when the BOTS spider your site too.

Example:

Title Tag: The Famous Music Quotes of all time
H1 Tag: Famous Music Quotes from the World's Artists

If you do add more text to the title tag, make sure the new words are actually on the visible page too.

Other than that, very nice ;)

Ads that get seen get clicked more! ;) I think the ad placement is fine.

I agree with you that I like to see the adsense ads word wrapped too. All of my sites are like you suggest but most adsense "experts" recommend not doing the word wrap. I tried it both ways and the non wrapped was a couple of tenths of percentage points better for ctr but I hated the look and for a couple of tenths of ctr points I just didn't worry about it. IOW non wrapped was 4.33% ctr and wrapped was 4.17% ctr so it wasn't a big deal to me.

Lol, I'd like to see the adsense experts who say they get ctr above 20% to shell out a few of their secrets. ;) Best I've been able to do is a hair over 6% ctr

Cool- I did not know you could do it like that- looks much better

As far as the adsense wrap or not- I don't know how to do it so, I am glad it does not make much difference in the stats.

Thanks guys for the help! :D

To get it to wrap just takes a div statement.

Code: Select all
<div style="float: left;">
Your text here
</div>

I'd sugest you try it both ways to see which gets the best ctr.
