To other members who may be skeptical...

Mike's system of using pages and exact match domain names works. I have a few 1-page blogs with just a static homepage that are in page 1 and 2 of G and making money with Adsense with no promotion whatsoever, not even posting on announcement blogs. It just took longer to get indexed than they probably would have if I have the benefit of announcement blogs. I am now starting to add pages to these blogs to capture more traffic. I have also learned a few new tricks just by watching the BU videos.
