Google Quality Changes - Panda evolves

Panda Update in Full Effect

Google has made changes that are far reaching and affect all sites on the internet that have been indexed by Google.

I am hearing from a LOT of people that they have lost sites which got deindexed by Google.

This is NOT unique to BLOG NETWORKS but yes BU has lost a lot of sites that were DEINDEXED.

I lost sites in the BU network and I also lost sites NOT in the BU NETWORK.

Not ALL BU BLOGS WERE DEINDEXED.

NOT all of my SITES WERE DEINDEXED.

ONLY THE WEAK ONES.

I have heard from a lot of people - some of them not connected in any way to BLOG NETWORKS that their sites have been de-indexed.

The common factors of deindexed sites are they were WEAK or even BAD or had scraped content from ezinearticles and other places that were on the home pages.

Common factor is sites with weak home pages were deindexed.

What is weak?

We don't know 100% as Google never tells us this stuff and they don't notify us that something is worng with our sites.

They just remove it from their index.

In the past week they have done a big sweep and ANYONE with a lot of sites seems to be affected.

Sure - blog networks - but also lots of people not connected to blog networks.

Also NOT ALL sites were deindexed - they seemed to target ones that had scraped conetnt on the home page and/or lacked anything original or of value.

I see a LOT of my sites that were VALUABLE sites were not affected.

They are still indexed.

Some of them are RANKING HIGHER.

Some of my sites are RANKING HIGHER for VERY COMPETITIVE terms even though I have lost some links from the BU BLOGS.

BUT SO DID EVERYONE ELSE! This is far reaching affecting all sites. Everyone out there that had links from deinxed sites LOST SOME LINKS.

So even though I lost links from the BU blogs - some of my sites have still gone up SIGNIFICANTLY even for very competitive keywords.

Also I have sites that are still ranking on page one for a lot of my top keywords. Big money keywords.

I've heard this from other people too.

I had sites deindexed that I can honestly say were WEAK. They were SHORT on offering value to the end user.

They were GOOD enough for me - I don't think they should have been banned - but obviuosly Google is making changes and they are FOCUSING ON QUALITY

They want quality - it's very clear this is what the big picture is.

ALL my sites that were STRONG GOOD SITES with quality are still in the index and still getting traffic.

I have friends and relatives who are NOT in any way connected to any blog network or even bad linking and they have told me their sites are NOT indexed by Google any more.

The deindexing of sites was NOT JUST BLOG NETWORKS period.

If you were NOT deindexed that is great - you might be fine.

BUT it is very clear that Google is making QUALITY ADJUSTMENTS.

Either you embrace what is happening and deal with it or you ignore it and try to blame other things.

In the long run we will ALL need to improve quality or risk getting deindexed.

For now it seems very clear to me that the best thing I can do and anyone can do that wants to protect their sites that are indexed by Google is to make sure that the HOME PAGE has real value for a visitor.

I don't have all the answers NOR does anyone else.

A lot of the stuff being said in forums is pure speculation. A lot of it is incorrect.

People are spreading around rumours and people are helping spread those.

Google did something to clean their index and it has impacted far more than the sites in the BU blogs or any other blog networks.

EVERYONE is affected in some way.

It is 100% clear that what Google did was for IMPROVING QUALITY on Google searches.

LINKS coming in most likely will NOT cause problems for you so far as QUALITY is concerned.

You can't control who links to you.

You CAN control what is on your site. So if there is a possibility it is WEAK in value try to improve it.

I do understand that blog netowrks have been hit hard. Some more than others but this is far wider reaching than just BU.

If your site is still in the index you are lucky.

You should not be worrying. You should be focusing on delivering good content.

If you have sites deindexed that's certainly not good - but the're gone - don't spend time on those for now - instead of focusing on what you have that is NOT GOOD or LOST - try to focus your efforts on what you have that is good and make that work as best it can.

Scrapebox, which is like a Swiss Army knife for IMers, has a feature that checks if a list of sites is indexed or not.

Hi: I have just joined and am trying not to get depressed about Google. Google seems almost like a dictator. Everything on the internet depends on Google and I find that scary... I have been looking up websites that I REALLY liked (and seem to be gone) and NONE of them are indexed by Google anymore. These were honest to goodness sites, not spam or anything not legal. Just doing good SEO. Also, none of them are indexed by bing or yahoo. Do they follow Google? I was so excited about starting to earn money online and learning all this stuff but I really don't see how this will work if Google is in charge. Google does not seem to like people depending on SEO for traffic. Only the big guys that can pay a fortune for Adwords. When doing searches from several keywords, where I use to see everyone, now I only see BIG CORP. Where are the little guys??? I heard that some webs have actually gone up in the search engine! I would be very interested to know what those sites are. I use to like Google and thought that it was just good business to weed out the spammers. But it doesn't seem that way any more. They are just greedy it seems. I thought that with adsense it was like helping each other, a win, win, situation. Maybe I have this all wrong. Just came in at a bad time....Anyway, had to vent....I truly don't see Penguin as a good thing though. Only if Google sees a decrease in their profits from this will they change. That's my opinion, and a very limited one at that.
A newbie...

They never did. They never will. So what. You can still get free traffic if you do the right things. ;)

This is just a cycle and once sites get BACKLINKS they lost they'll start reclaiming top spots.

I just leaunched a bunch of new sites and they ranked on page 1 fast. This stuff still works. You just need to have a good solid site and good quality links.
